Can I write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days?

I've signed up for National Novel Writing Month--nanowrimo. I've committed to write a 50,000-word manuscript in 30 days. It seemed like a good idea, a do-able undertaking.

Now, at the end of day 3 (or the beginning of day 4, if you're going by the clock and not by my own sleep/waking cycles), I realize that what I've committed to is a much larger undertaking than I was prepared for. Oops. This is going to be a wicked-exhausting month.

But I'm learning valuable lessons about my writing and my life. More about that later.
